In 2004, a new anti-corruption law was approved, which set out provisions for a new body in the form of the Central Office for Combating Corruption (Gabinete Central de Combate à Corrupção, GCCC). The GCCC was established within the Attorney General’s Office and replaced the anti-corruption unit established in 2003. The GCCC carries out corruption prevention and investigation and operates in Maputo, Beira, and Nampula.
