Anti-Corruption Profile The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission was first established by the President in 2004 through the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004. The Commission was created as a way to help tackle corruption and patronage practices by helping to enhance the accountability and transparency of the Zimbabwean institutions. The main objective of ZACC is “combating corruption, theft, misappropriation, abuse of power and other improprieties in the conduct of affairs in both public and private sectors”. The Anti-Corruption Commission Act outlines the powers and functions of the Commission and illustrates how members are appointed. Section 12 of the Act outlines the functions of the Commission which includes duties like monitoring and examining practices, systems and procurement procedures, enlisting and fostering public support, and also instructing, advising and assisting any officer, agency or institution.
